What about You and Your House

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  (Joshua 24:15)

It is not hard to ask believers whom will they serve on Sunday! It is not difficult to ask for a hand clap of praise during or after the choir or praise team have lifted the spirits of those in the sanctuary. However, when no one else is watching, when the world is pressuring us to do things that are ungodly, when unrighteousness appears prosperous and righteousness resides in poverty, whom will you serve then?  When situations and circumstances and the calamities of life overwhelm you, can God still count on us? "What about You and Your House?

Joshua was instructed by God to call all of the leaders, officers, elders, judges and leaders and remind them of their kingdom responsibility to serve the Lord thy God and Him only. He reminded them of how far God had brought them, from Egypt to Canaan, the red Sea, victories in war against and provisions when they were in need. Despite all that God had done, Israel was giving service and time to other gods. What about you? Who are you committed to, where is your loyalty,? Whatever the kingdom of God needs, God's people should be ready and willing to be a Kingdom participant.   "What about You and Your House?

Are you connected to your brother or sisters  inheritance

Finally, all of you must live in harmony, be sympathetic, love as brothers, and be compassionate and humble. Do not  pay others back evil for evil or insult. Instead keep blessing them, because you were called to inherit a blessing. (1st Peter 3:8-9)

Most believers try to get along with their brothers and sisters in Christ. Unfortunately in many so called church environments there are clicks and groups who isolate themselves and ignore others. We often fail to exhibit the character and love of Christ when interacting with others.  Peter encourages all believers to live in harmony, do you strive to live in harmony with those God have placed in your life? "Are you connected to your brother or sisters  inheritance?

Peter not only request harmony but sympathy, and love for your fellow brethren. Love like Christ, full of compassion and humility. If a person is evil or mean toward you, the bible tells us that we are not to treat them the same way. Rather we are to bless them, be kind to them demonstrate the forgiveness of our father. These actions should be easy for us because they tell the world that we are join heirs with Christ. My actions toward you and your actions toward me, demonstrate that we are both blessed.
